What this site is

This page introduces Drumbook, a privately developed practice journal for the drum kit. It is a private project. Nothing is sold here and no contracts are concluded. The app itself is not publicly available at present.

Statements about the state of development describe the situation at the time this page was last changed. They are not a promise of future availability, features or prices.

The short version on privacy

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, and loads nothing from third-party servers — no fonts, no third-party videos, no social buttons. Everything you see is served from the same address as the page itself. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

The single exception is the form at the end of the start page: only when you submit it does the data you entered go to a Google service. What happens then is described below.

Server logs

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open the page your browser necessarily transmits data to GitHub's servers: your IP address, the date and time, the address requested and the amount of data transferred, your browser and operating system identifier, and possibly the page you came from.

GitHub processes this to operate and secure the service. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — the legitimate interest being the ability to serve the page at all. The extent and retention of these logs are outside my control and I do not access them. Processing may involve a transfer to the USA, based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and, additionally, standard contractual clauses. See GitHub's privacy statement and its notes on GitHub Pages.

The "notify me" form

The form at the end of the start page lets you be notified once the app is ready to try.

What is collected: your email address (required) and, optionally, your name and a message. The time of signing up and the language version of the page are stored as well.
Purpose: the single notification at launch and, if you wrote something, a reply to it.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You give consent by ticking the box; without it nothing is stored.
Retention: until the notification is sent, then deleted — at the latest when the project ends.
Withdrawal: at any time, without formality, by email to the address above.

You are not obliged to use the form. A plain email reaches me just as well, and then no further service is involved.

Processing by Google (Apps Script and Sheets)

Submissions are sent to a Google Apps Script web app and stored in a Google Sheet; the notification is sent through Google's mail service. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, with Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA as parent company.

A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place for this: the form is received through a Google Workspace account governed by Google's Cloud Data Processing Addendum, so Google processes the data on instruction only and not for its own purposes.

On submitting, your IP address and browser details are necessarily transmitted to Google as well. A transfer to the USA cannot be ruled out; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and additionally relies on standard contractual clauses. See Google's privacy policy.

Note: as long as you do not submit the form, nothing is transmitted to Google. The page still loads no content from third-party servers and still sets no cookies — the connection to Google is made only at the moment you press the button.

Email is sent and received through the respective providers. An unencrypted email can be read in transit.

My mailbox (STRATO)

Messages to silvio@drumbook.de are held in a mailbox at STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Strasse 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany, which runs it for me as a processor under Article 28 GDPR; the servers are in Germany. Your message stays there until the matter is settled.

The app itself

This notice concerns the website. As for the app, which is not publicly available yet: Drumbook stores everything solely on the device it is installed on. It has no user accounts, no server connection, no analytics and no advertising identifier. No data is transmitted to me or to anyone else. A separate privacy notice for the app will follow when it is released.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Consent once given can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). Write to the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), usually the one where you live.

Liability and copyright

The content of this page has been put together with care, but no warranty is given for its accuracy, completeness or currency. Where this page links to external sites, the respective provider is responsible for their content. The texts, screenshots and graphics shown here are protected by copyright; using them outside what the law permits requires prior consent.

Dispute resolution

There is neither an obligation nor a willingness to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
